AARP Medicare Complete 2020
If you like the coverage that Original Medicare provides for you but want some extra coverage on top of that, then you can get a Medicare Advantage plan. What this plan does is offer extra coverage for Medicare subscribers and give them powerful coverage that takes care of many necessary expenses. The AARP Medicare Complete 2020 is one of the most robust and comprehensive versions of these plans, and it is something that every senior who needs a lot of coverage should consider.
How Medicare Complete Covers You
Your basic Medicare Advantage plan will cover you for all of Original Medicare’s expenses and services. That’s all of Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B, which cover inpatient and outpatient expenses and services, respectively. However, Part A hospice care will still be covered by Medicare, but everything else will be taken care of through your new insurer. So, if you signed up for an AARP Complete plan, then AARP will be providing that for you.
In addition to copying what Original Medicare does, the Complete plan will cover you for emergency services too, like ambulatory care and ER services. It also covers anything that is considered to be urgently needed. This would be medical services that will keep you in good health, and that could include preventative care. So medical tests, x-rays, medications, therapy and surgery could all be considered urgently needed in some cases.
The most robust Medicare Advantage plans will do more than all of this, though. They will take care of routine visits to your general practitioner and your vision and hearing specialists. They can take care of some durable medical equipment too, like hearing aids and eyeglasses.
Even prescription medication can be covered under Medicare Advantage plans. A lot of Advantage plans will include Medicare Part D, which is a drug coverage plan that takes care of generic and prescription medications.
AARP’s Network Choices
With an AARP Complete plan, you get coverage that is powerful and expansive, but you also have to deal with the limitations of a network. The network AARP operates on is pretty big, as this is a big company with a lot of connections to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and doctor’s offices. Their plans are going to be accepted in a lot of places. That doesn’t mean they will be accepted everywhere, though. There will be some medical facilities where AARP Complete is not honored.
AARP offers a couple of different network options for you to pick from, though. We want to focus on the two most common ones-HMO and PPO.
HMO Complete plans are what most people will choose to sign up for in 2020. These make their plan simple and straightforward. With an HMO option, you will be covered only on the network, but you get full coverage there. You also pay a low, affordable rate with HMOs.
If you decide to go with a PPO option, then you will be covered fully on the network as well. But this kind of option has the added perk of covering you partially outside of your network. If you sign up for an AARP Medicare Complete 2020 plan with the PPO option, you will pay more than you would for an HMO. But you would be covered both on and off the network, and that can come in very handy in some instances.
Say, for instance, that you lived somewhere remote, such as out in the country. You might not have many choices for clinics or pharmacies or hospitals. Well, if AARP is not accepted at the hospital or other medical facilities near you, then a PPO plan can still get you some coverage there. You can be taken care of and not have to worry so much about what kind of network you are dealing with and where your plan is going to be accepted. You could go anywhere in the United States with a PPO plan and receive coverage according to your Complete plan. That’s a pretty amazing thing.
Of course, the PPO plan is going to cost more. It will not be as cheap as the HMO, but it is doing more for you, so that’s understandable.
You can compare these choices here on our website. If you just search for Medicare Complete plans, you will see what the rate is for them and what the price difference is between the HMO and the PPO. The HMO is always cheaper.
You can also use our site to see how AARP compare to its competition. We give you a list of quotes, and you can use that you determine what the best rates are and which company you should be signing up with.
Is AARP a Good Choice?
You always want to consider the benefits of joining one insurer over another. Even when the coverage on their plans is exactly the same, there can be some perks you get for just being a member with them. AARP is no different in that regard, and they provide their members will all sorts of added benefits that don’t cost extra. AARP is the leader in senior care services of all kinds, as it offers financial advice, healthy living programs, gym discounts and more.
We have recommended AARP to a lot of seniors because of all that they offer, not to mention their great reputation. We think every senior should at least give them a chance and some consideration.
The AARP Medicare Complete 2020 plan is one of the highest coverage healthcare plans available. You definitely want to think about signing up for it if you have a lot of medical expenses. It could cost less to have this powerful plan cover those for you than to try to pay them out of pocket year after year. You can also consolidate your medical expenses and insurance plans with a Medicare Complete plan. That’s because this kind of plan can offer you the same coverage or better when compared to multiple smaller plans.
